Dear Parent/Guardian and Student,
Welcome to 5th Grade! I am happy to welcome you to the 2023-2024 school year! I am looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure your child can achieve their highest potential. I recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. I know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and I want you to know that I will do my very best to carry out my responsibilities. In my classroom, learning takes place through hands-on activities, projects, cooperative learning, technology, whole group and individual work.
Fifth grade is a critical year, but because we are preparing your student for middle school. Please review our school-wide and classroom expectations. It is imperative that your student remains focused during instructional time and puts forth his/her best effort each and every day in the classroom and/or virtually. Academic standards are rigorous and written to help prepare your child for the coming years, and eventually college, career, and life.
Please make sure that your child has all necessary supplies so that instructional time can be used efficiently. Students are all given an agenda book that contains the school handbook, discipline code, important phone numbers and dress code. Please take time to go over each of these items with your student within the first few days of school. Your child must bring their agenda book to class every day. This is one of my primary sources of communication with you, the parent. Please take a moment to review your child’s agenda book each evening.
I am so excited about this school year and the opportunity to get to know your child and watch him/her grow.
