Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,

     I am so
excited to begin the 2020-2021 school year. This semester will be a little different than we are all used to, but I am eager to work with each and every one of you to ensure a fun-filled year of learning through rigorous instruction and relevant experiences.

Communication between home and school is key to our success. I look forward to building our relationship via a weekly newsletter sent through email and
ClassTag, as well as a weekly parent-only Zoom meeting, bi-monthly phone calls, and RTI meetings. You can monitor your child’s academic progress by enrolling in Power School. Your username and password are available at the front office when you present your ID.

To promote 21st century skills, each student will be provided with a Kindle Fire. These tablets have been purchased through grants from DonorsChoose.org. We will use our tablets throughout the school day to complete assignments via programs such as Google Classroom, iReady, and Moby Max, and to expand our knowledge of coding and stop motion animation. Get ready to hear your child discussing sites such as GimKit, Scratch, and Mystery Science.

At Norris, we use a school-wide behavior strategy known as our RAMS PBIS Expectations. Students may earn RAMS bucks to spend in our school store if they are caught following our RAMS expectations. Students may also earn tickets in the classroom to spend in our class store. Tickets may be earned by answering questions, helping a friend, turning in their homework, and trying their best. It is imperative that your student remains focused during instructional time and puts forth his/her best effort each day in the classroom and/or virtually.
