WELCOME TO MRS. YOUNGBLOOD 'S PAGE!!
Parents/Guardians and Students,
Welcome to 5th Grade!
I am thrilled to welcome you to the 2020-21 school year! I am looking forward to a constructive, beneficial, effective, and rewarding school year. Your partnership with me this year will ensure you/your child will achieve their highest potential. It is imperative for children to be successful in school, how is that possible.....support from both the home and school. I am holding everyone accountable, so we can have successful gains at the end of this school term. This strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. Regardless, if the school is held in person or virtually, our learning will take place through Kinesthetic (Learning by hands-on), Visually (Learning by Seeing), Auditory (Learning by Hearing), and Read/Write (Learning by Reading and Writing). We will use technology, whole group, small group, one-on-one, and individual instruction.
Fifth grade is a critical year, the state requirements of academic standards are rigorous and developed to help prepare your child for the coming years. COVID has impacted us all in different ways, but we must continue to keep the focus on preparing our children for the future. I stand by the Whole Child Approach (supporting my students beyond academics and connecting with them as a whole). I'm here for them and their success.
Please review our school-wide and classroom expectations. It is important that your student remains focused during instructional time and puts forth his/her best effort each and every day in the classroom and/or virtually.
Please make sure that your child has all the necessary supplies so that instructional time can be used efficiently. Due to COVID, the sharing of materials is not recommended. I will do my best to keep their supplies separated for only their use. Your child must bring their agenda book to class every day. This is one of my primary sources of communication with you, the parent. Please take a moment to review your child’s agenda book each evening or before school.

Why A Teacher?
Since I was a little girl, I've always loved kids. I use to keep all my little cousins, so this is where my passion began. I later developed a love for rehabilitation. So, I learned teaching is a form of rehabilitation, so this gave me an opportunity to blend teaching with rehabilitation. Since rehabilitation can improve the abilities that a child needs for daily life to help them grow and be productive citizens in this ever-changing world. I live by the saying..."Fairness does not mean everyone gets the same thing. Fairness means everyone gets what they need to be successful." Rick Riordan My goal is to build relationships and further the growth of my students academically, socially, mentally, and intellectually.
I received my Bachelor’s degree at Georgia Southern University in Kinesiology. I completed my Master’s degree (MAT) at Augusta State University(ASU)/ Georgia Regents in Special Education. I recently completed my Specialist's degree (ED.S) at University of West Alabama in Special Education.
I am thrilled to have the opportunity to continue my teaching career here in McDuffie County! I've taught several different grade levels... 2nd grade, 4th grade, and 5th grade math. I've also taught 3rd grade, 4th grade, and 5th grade Reading/LA. This is my third year at Norris Elementary and my 7th year teaching. I'm excited to be back in 5th grade this year. I'm a member of the Climate Committee here at Norris Elementary School.
