The McDuffie County School System is pleased to announce the results of its five-year Cognia External Review Team accreditation visit conducted March 6-9, 2022. Cognia is the global leader in providing continuous improvement, professional learning, and accreditation services to 36,000 institutions serving 25 million students in 85 countries.
An external review team of seven educators from across the Southeast reviewed evidence and interviewed stakeholders. The team rated performance standards in the domains of Leadership Capacity, Learning Capacity, and Resource Capacity. The system earned the highest rating possible on 30 of the 31 standards.
In the final report released last week, McDuffie County Schools earned an Index of Education Quality (IEQ) score of 386.94. The maximum score is 400. The system’s results are more than 100 points greater than the five-year average (278.34 - 283.33) for the Cognia network.
The team commended the system for the following:
- Outstanding, committed, trusted leadership and governance
- Effective engagement of stakeholders to support student learning and continuous improvement
- Formalized processes for monitoring instruction, evaluations, and programs that assure accurate analyses
- Quality resources to ensure exemplary professional development and the hiring of outstanding personnel
The team recommended that the system continue to improve instruction in the areas of differentiation and rigor to include innovation and creativity and that opportunities for teachers to lead the collection and analysis of data be provided.
The external team visit, which has resulted in the highest level of achievement to date for accreditation visits to McDuffie County Schools, validates the commitment of all leadership, faculty and staff as we strive to increase rigor, relevance, and relationships for all students.
