Principal's Message

I am so grateful and honored to be the principal of the “new” R. L. Norris Elementary School
(now back on Harrison Road). Being the daughter of three R. L. Norris High School Alumnae (Kathleen Grant Drayton, Class of 70 and Herman “Johnny” & Emmie Joyce Cowins, Class of 1964), I understand the importance of remembering and honoring the legacy that has been left by so many, especially that of Mr. Raymond Luther Norris.
This year will truly be a great year as the fantastic faculty, superb staff, and studious students get settled in a brand new building. We would like to cordially invite parents, alumnae, and community members to come by and see the excited things that will happen this year.
At R. L. Norris, we believe each of us possesses a talent to be used for the greater good. I believe what Albert Einstein stated, “Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” This school year I have challenged the faculty and staff to educate the heart of the students of R. L. Norris Elementary School. According to Aristotle, educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.

This year we will show our RAMS PRIDE…Purposely Running In the Direction of Excellence.

Your Principal,

Mrs. Shantell Crockett
