Greetings from R.L. Norris Elementary School!

For more than 26 years, it has been my honor to be an educator in the McDuffie County School System.  I must say that the recent school years have given us new opportunities to think about how we teach and reach our students. We are embracing these changes and doing our best to make sure that you feel that we are doing all that we need to do to help close the gaps for our students. We are always available to you and whatever needs you may have.

This school system is where I have had the opportunity to watch my own children learn and grow. I am the proud mom of four Thomson High School graduates. 

My oldest child, Megan Wuchte, is an Assistant Principal in Columbia County. She and her husband, Wes, who teaches and coaches in Columbia County, have blessed me with my first grandchild, Oliver, in March of 2019.  My oldest of the triplets, Matthew, graduated with his doctorate of physical therapy in May 2019 and married Jennifer Connor, a guidance counselor in Columbia county.  They have blessed me with my first granddaughter, Anslee, in June of 2022. Christopher and Zachary graduated from the University of Georgia in 2017 with Engineering degrees. Chris is currently working for Plug Power in Albany, New York. Zachary works for Fulghum Industries in Wadley, Georgia.  The McDuffie County School System has well prepared all of them to be successful in their chosen fields, and I am so grateful for that! 

It is my desire that each of our students here at Norris be equally prepared for success in the careers that they will one day choose.  McDuffie County has a long tradition of pride and academic excellence. The NES faculty and staff are committed to working with our students, their parents, and our community so that each child can be successful in their academic endeavors.  We strive daily to give each child the support needed in order to achieve great things!
