R.L. Norris Elementary School FIRST Lego League
The FLL team is made up of 5th grade students from Mrs. Henry’s QUEST class, one middle school student, and one high school student. The older students compete as team leaders. The team is sponsored by John Deere and Queensborough Bank. John Deere also provides engineers who serve as team mentors. The Team meets after school one day a week during robotics competition season. The competition consists of three areas: Core Values, Robotic Missions, and The Project.
Students, coaches, and mentors work tirelessly for weeks to develop great teamwork, a quality problem/solution presentation for the project, and to program the robots to complete as many of the 16 given missions in the 2min 30 sec. timed robotics event. While the team didn’t place in their first ever competition, which took place at Athens Academy in December, they are better prepared to face the competition next year!
